• Speed of Modem Used: 33.6 kbps or 56 kbps
• Type of Modem Used for up to 56 kbps access: X2 or K56flex
• Contact No. and Name
• A copy of your matriculation card

Q 2: I have an existing SingNet account in my family but it belongs to my brother. Can I switch it to the SingNet - NTU package under my name?

You will be able to switch to the SingNet - NTU package provided the existing account is under your name.

3: I have a existing account and I would like to change my Standard Plan I($9.50) account to the NTU package Plan II $7.00, is it possible? Will there be any more charges apart from the $10.00 administration fee?

Please refer to question 1 and 2 for the answer. A $10.00 administration fee will be imposed.

Q 4: If I switch my existing SingNet account to SingNet - NTU package, what happens to my email address when I am still studying at NTU and after I graduate?

Your email address will remain the same. After you graduate from NTU, you will be required to transfer your Special NTU student plan to the regular scheme published in our homepage. Please take note that the email address will remain the same as in SingNet - NTU package when you choose to stay with SingNet.

Q 5: If I am a existing TOLL-FREE SingNet account holder, what happens to my email address after I switch to SingNet - NTU package when I am still studying at NTU and after I graduate?

When you change your TOLL-FREE plan to SingNet- NTU package, your email address will remain the same. Please take note that the SingNet - NTU package is valid only for NON-TOLL FREE SCHEME. SingNet will write or email to you to inform you that you have to revert to the regular access scheme. Please take note that the email address will remain the same as in the SingNet - NTU package but you will be on non-tollfree access instead.

Q 6: I am currently on a promotion for free subscription for SingNet, can I change it to the SingNet - NTU package?

As in any promotion, no change of plan will be allowed unless you are willing to forfeit the free subscription given in the bundle.

Q 7: Can I apply for 2 accounts under the SingNet - NTU package?

Each NTU student is entitled to apply for ONE account under this special scheme.

Q 8: Is Win 3.1 supported on this SingNet - NTU package?

No, the NTU Net can only support Win 95 platform.

Q 9: If I exceed the free hours that I subscribe to, what will be the additional charges ?

Additional usage beyond the given free hours will be charged at 5 cents per minute.

Q 11: If I'm a normal SingNet or any ISP subscriber, what resources in NTU I cannot access?

• Access NTU Exchange Server using Exchange Clients or Outlook.
• Access to hosts machines such as Delta or Unix workstation, just like you are on the network.
• Access to you Windows NT File and Print Services in Computer Centre.
• Access to your Windows NT machines in your schools.
• Access to Intranet applications (note: not Internet).
  In summary, all resources that you can do it in campus, you can do it with PPTP.

Q 12: How to access those NTU resources mentioned in the previous question?

1. Take up this special package from SingNet.
2. Follow the Jumpstart kit and install all the relevant software.
   If you do it correctly, you should have upgrade Dialup Networking in Win95 to version 1.3.
3. Check the Network applet in your control panel. You will see Dialup Adapter as well as the new VPN adapter (Point-to-point Tunneling Protocol or PPTP).
4. The VPN adapter is the key software to access NTU resources. After you've dial into SingNet (like you always do), you can surf the Web, read news, chat on the Internet. If you want to access those resources mentioned in the previous faq question, you would have to activate the VPN adapter.

Q 16: What is a VPN adapter?

VPN adapter stand Virtual Private Networking adapter. This adapter is installed when you upgrade Dialup Networking 1.0 to 1.2.

Q 17: What is PPTP?

PPTP is an ancroym for Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol.
